About Justin Weinmann

2e48d9b8de71384ea6be81d66942aaf8I'm married to my amazing wife Jenny and we have one little girl named Evie that I simply adore. Oh! And a super awesome French Bulldog named Louis. He's the most polite dog ever -- he's got French etiquette I suppose. We're all homebodies and don't get out a lot, but when we do, we have a blast. We live simple lives and just love hanging out with each other. I have thought about it a lot and I've concluded that I'm the luckiest guy in the world.

I completed my secondary education near Houston, Texas. Later I moved to Florida, where I graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelors in Social Science emphasizing History and Political Science. After graduating from University I returned to Texas and became a secondary school history teacher.

Most of my hobbies revolve around art. I love to draw mostly, but I paint traditionally and digitally upon occasion. Mostly I draw only for fun now and I don't take commissions anymore.

I don't really play sports anymore, but I still love watching them. I'm a big underdog fan and root for them mostly. That probably stems from the fact that I'm from Houston and you have to be willing to root for the underdog if you support the home team.

Football: Florida State Seminoles (Alma Mater)  |  Houston Texans |

Basketball: Houston Rockets | Occasionally San Antonio, but never Dallas

Baseball has been hard for me to watch since 2005, when the Astros handed the World Series over to an inferior White Sox, but I still go to a game or two each year and root for the home team. I'm a glutton for punishment.

I know most people would say that your job can't be a hobby, but I love history and I teach it because I love it. When I'm not drawing or watching sports, I'm probably reading something related to history.

I'm not a fan of the channel, but I love the future and physics and all things science. In fact I would say I love the future more than the past --  if I could get a job teaching the future I would. I spend a lot of my time reading about new technology and how it affects society while dreaming of what our future may be -- good or bad -- hopefully good.

Action movies get my attention more than most, but I love mind-bending thrillers as well. While today's movies are geared towards special effects and awesome cinematography, truly I would prefer a movie with a spectacular story line and some amazing acting. Too bad those things seem to be mutually exclusive in Hollywood.

I don't get much time to read comics a lot anymore, but I still find a chance to read one or two here and there. I love the characters of so many it would be too long to list. One day, I would love to make my own, but that is for a distant alternate version of myself that reverts back to young Justin... I'm working on that ;)

History Illustrated

As mentioned above I love history and I love comics. The fact that I'm a teacher has allowed me to combine the two. Always a work in progress, History Illustrated is a passion project of mine that allows me to participate in many of my hobbies at once and facilitates the learning of history in my class and others. Students can learn history from my drawings and comics that are created in a modular-lesson format. These lessons can be used to supplement or enhance their knowledge of history in a fun, more modern way.
