Pax Americana Map
Pax Americana, Latin for "American Peace," refers to a period of relative global stability and peace that has been maintained largely through the dominant influence and military power of the United States. Emerging after the end of World War II and continuing throughout much of the Cold War, Pax Americana saw the U.S. taking on the role of a superpower, working to prevent major conflicts and promote democratic values and economic interdependence.
It often involved alliances, such as NATO, and the containment of rival superpower the Soviet Union. While not without its criticisms and challenges, Pax Americana has played a significant role in shaping the post-World War II international order.
