Pop Artist James Rizzi Dies at 61

December 29, 2011

James Rizzi isn't the most famous artist of our times but he got to do some really cool stuff with his really unique style of art. I'm not the hugest fan of pop art, but I certainly do like it a lot.

Rizzi was known for awesome anthropomorphic works. I really love the anthropomorphic skylines... but my favorite thing ever was that he was given the opportunity to cover an entire airplane. Lufthansa airlines asked him to do it back in 1996 and if you ask me there isn't much more awesome things you can do... short of painting the Hoover Dam -- or the space shuttle.

Well, on to the bad news, he died. I guess if you read the title of this first you already knew that. Oh, well. Either way the art world is at a loss today and everyday without him and hopefully with his absence people people will still admire some of the great work he's done.
