Don't Go Today

When the coop flies away the roost comes to stay and all I have to say is, “please don’t go today.” The roost went to fly and the coop came to stay. The only thing left to say was, “I’ll deal with today tomorrow.” And when tomorrow looms I pray to myself for it to not become a yesterday, where everything goes away a day ago. Assuming a tomorrow can become a yesterday then I’ve got only one thing left to say, “Please don’t go today.”

As long as today has come, it will go, this is certain. Yesterday has come and gone, changing it is not an option. Tomorrow is not a given and stares at us from a horizon of what ifs, but for us to plan for it is a dangerous notion. Yet plan away today for what must be done tomorrow, when yesterday seems to matters no longer. But yesterday’s desires shape our tomorrows and has led us to today, so enjoy it, even when it goes away. These statements have a ring and a jingle of deja vu, but not going today is staying only for you.
