Your Own Two Shoes

And the look back looks better today than the forward did then. You hold close to your heart the hate for now and desire the past -- for at long last, you've forgotten just what it was. Today is at a loss for your desire of yesterday because it knows just what it brought. And tomorrow looks back and knows the same is true. And while you step forward without looking you trip over your own two shoes.

“I dream I am dreaming, only to wake up laughing, which is funny to me so I laugh myself to sleep.”

Laughter is a cure all and laughing while unconscious could mean that all is well.

Tripping forward is how I feel, my feet sinking deeper and falling further ahead. I stumble along through happiness and despair of equal parts and yet feel nothing but one or the other. Fortune’s light shines through every crack, reminding me to persevere – “It’s all worth it,” says the promise I hear. Yet untrusting, my Self I try to preserve at all cost. But nothing is free except the debt willingly made and the promises that become broken by a fate that does not know me. I maintain the desire of yesterday even if I do not desire today, for tomorrow my desires will change or become the same and thus remain. I allow it to grow deepening roots upon my core, squeezing and squeezing until I am forced out and over the edge, and then I see; I see Fortune’s fierce light over the precipice of the cliffs of my design, and it blinds me. I smile as bright gravity consumes me all-knowing into the pain of inevitable collision. I see a sign ‘Rock Bottom Repair and Salvage’, and so I sit and have conversations with a monster. I dream I am dreaming, only to wake up laughing, which is funny to me so I laugh myself to sleep. I now have hopes that are dangerous indeed, for that monster is not as reluctant as he seems. I continue to trip forward and over, going under and through this path of delightful horrors, dreaming that I am dreaming of a reality I don’t know is real.
